FREE was formally incorporated as a not for profit academic research institute on July 15, 2015 by various retired Ph.D. Physicists, Ph.D. Scientists, Ph.D. Psychologists, Ph.D. Neuroscientists and lay researchers. FREE is a focused on researching “WHAT IS CONSCIOUSNESS” by undertaking cross comparative research on individuals that are having various types of “Contact with Non-Human Intelligence”.

WHAT WE DO
FREE’s Mission will focus on “Research, Education and Support” but we primarily focus on scientific investigation, through surveys and interviews, on individuals who have had UFO related contact experiences with non-human intelligent beings and eventually to compare this UFO related contact group with individuals that have had other types of paranormal contact experiences through the following “Contact Modalities”: NDE contact, OBE contact, Shamanic Hallucinogenic contact, Mystical Meditation contact, Channeling, Lucid Dreaming Contact, Remote Viewing contact, and other types of human encounters with non-human intelligence, and related paranormal contact experiences.

OUR CO-FOUNDERS AND ADVISORS
Dr. Edgar Mitchell was one of the 4 Co-Founders of FREE and a very active member of the FREE Board of Director. Our beloved Edgar passed away on February 4, 2016. Dr. Mitchell was a member of the Apollo 14 mission which was NASA's third manned lunar landing and he was the 6th man to walk on the moon. Dr. Mitchell has a Doctor of Science in Aeronautics and Astronautics from MIT and has received many awards and honors including the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the USN Distinguished Medal and three NASA Group Achievement Awards. In addition, he was inducted to the Space Hall of Fame in 1979, the Astronaut Hall of Fame in 1998, was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize in 2005 and was inducted into the Leonardo da Vinci Society for the Study of Thinking in June, 2011.
After retiring from the Navy in 1972, Dr. Mitchell founded the Institute of Noetic Sciences. He has authored "Psychic Exploration,” in 1974 and "The Way of the Explorer," in 1996, (Third edition, 2006) as well as dozens of articles in both professional and popular periodicals. He has devoted the last 40 years to studying human consciousness and psychic and paranormal phenomena in the search for a common ground between science and spirit. Dr. Rudy Schild is the Executive Director of FREE and a member of its Board of Directors. Dr. Schild is an Emeritus research astronomer at the Harvard/Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, following an extensive career studying Dark Matter, Black Holes, and the fluid mechanical origins of Cosmic Structure. Dr. Schild has published over 300 peer-reviewed academic articles on Astrophysics. Because of his long association with Dr. John Mack he has become interested in the formulation of a coherent understanding of the nature of space-time in the Universe, and is a champion of the Edgar Mitchell quantum hologram formulation of the nature of existence and reality. Reinerio (Rey) Hernandez is one of the 4 Co-Founders of the Dr. Edgar Mitchell FREE Foundation. He graduated with honors from Rutgers College, was a Masters Candidate at Cornell University and was a Ph.D. Candidate at U.C. Berkeley where he was the recipient of a National Science Foundation Ph.D. Fellowship. He previously was an Adjunct Professor for 6 years at the New School for Social Research and at the City University of New York. Rey has published several peer reviewed academic articles on Consciousness and the FREE Experiencer Research Study, was a co-editor of an 820-page book titled “Beyond UFOs: The Science of Consciousness and Contact with Non-Human Intelligence” and will be the co-editor of a two-volume series titled “Beyond Materialism”. Rey is also the co-producer of a science-based documentary with the same title. Rey has lectured all over the world and in the US on the relationship between Consciousness and Contact with Non-Human Intelligence via the Contact Modalities. Mary Rodwell is one of the 4 Co-Founders of the Dr. Edgar Mitchell FREE Foundation and served on its Research Committee. She was trained in the UK as a former RN, State Certified Midwife, health educator, Counselor and Clinical Hypnotherapist. She has published numerous articles from her research with over 3,000 cases of Extraordinary Encounters through her role as founder and principal of the Australian Close Encounter Resource Network (ACERN). She is the author of two books: Awakening, How Extraterrestrial Contact can transform your life and The New Human: Awakening to Our Cosmic Heritage. She is featured in numerous documentaries: My Mum Talks to Aliens, Paranormal Files, Animal X, Australien Skies 2, ET Contact, They Are Here, Orenda, Force of Consciousness. Dr. Jon Klimo is the Co-Chair of the FREE Experiencer Research Study and a member of its Board of Directors. Dr. Klimo has taught qualitative research methodology for over 40 years as a Full Professor in the clinical program at the San Francisco Bay Area campus of The American Schools of Professional Psychology, Argosy University and at Rutgers University. He has chaired approximately 250 academic doctoral dissertations since starting as a professor at Rutgers University in 1974, of these, approximately 75 have completely or primarily involved topics of parapsychology/ the paranormal, consciousness studies, spiritual/transpersonal studies, "new paradigm" science, and in the area of the otherworldly/ Ufology/extraterrestriology. He has also presented lectures at over 100 academic conferences and has appeared on more than 120 different radio and 20 different television programs. Dr. Claude Swanson is a member of FREE’s Board of Directors. He was educated as a physicist at MIT and received his Ph.D. in Physics from Princeton University. He has worked at the MIT Science Teaching Center, Brookhaven National Laboratory and the Virginia cyclotron. At Princeton he received the National Science Foundation Fellowship and Putnam Fellowship. For the last 20 years, interspersed with his conventional professional career in applied physics, Dr. Swanson has pursued investigations into "unconventional physics." His principal interest has been unified field theory, the so-called "Theory of Everything" which could explain the universe at the deepest possible level. At the same time, thousands of out-of-body and near-death experiences show that other dimensions and other realities do exist. Science is discovering that, in the words of the pioneer Robert Monroe, "we are far more than our physical bodies." Dr. Swanson is the author of “The Synchronized Universe” and “Science of the Afterlife”.
Dean Radin, PhD, is an Advisor and Board Member of the Dr. Edgar Mitchell FREE Foundation. Dean is Chief Scientist at the Institute of Noetic Sciences and Associated Distinguished Professor at the California Institute of Integral Studies. He earned an MS in electrical engineering and a PhD in psychology from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. Before joining the research staff at IONS in 2001, he held appointments at AT&T Bell Labs, Princeton University, University of Edinburgh, and SRI International.

He is author or coauthor of hundreds of scientific, technical, and popular articles, four dozen book chapters, and four popular books including the Scientific and Medical Network's 1997 book award, The Conscious Universe (HarperOne, 1997), Entangled Minds (Simon & Schuster, 2006), a 2014 Silver Nautilus Book Award, Supernormal (Random House, 2013), and Real Magic (Penguin Random House, 2018). Supernormal and Real Magic are available as paperback, e-books, and audio books. His invited talks for industries have included Merck, Google, Johnson & Johnson, and Rabobank. His government talks have included the US Navy, US Army, the Naval Postgraduate School, DARPA, the Indian Council of Philosophical Research (India), the International Center for Leadership and Governance (Malaysia), and the Australian Leadership Retreat (Australia). In 2017 he was named one of the 100 most inspiring people in the world by the German magazine, OOOM, and as of 2018 his filmography on IMDB lists 18 documentaries he's appeared in.
